Class 1 - Elves and Pixies – Max height 50cm Single Phase , All cross poles a class for genuine beginners
Restrictions:
- Combination Not allowed to enter classes 4 and above Usual SJ rules apply however anything goes including lead rein and outside assistance.
- Lead reins placed separately (if sufficient entries)
- Entry For this class: £6 member’s £8 non members
Class 2 & 2 a – Santa’s Stocking – Approx. height 60 cm · Single Phase. Combination not allowed to enter Class 5 and above First Prize £25 Class will be split if sufficient entries
Class 3 - Xmas Surprise - a special Handy Horse/Pony!! A competition for all whatever the size of pony/horse or age of rider the class with a difference.
- Entry For this class: £6 member’s £8 non members
Format for the Xmas surprise - NO JUMPING- Lead reins welcome but the rider MUST do the tasks.
Example order of tasks, these may change. However it will be a short course over poles on the floor to complete tasks.
1, Collect Xmas Cards
2, Post Xmas Cards
3, Bending Poles to collect Parcel and put Parcel in Sack
4, Immobility in Halt Box.
5, Collect Felt decoration and place on Felt Xmas Tree
6, Open and Close Gate Mounted (
You can dismount but a penalty will be incurred)
7, Last fence and finish.

Class 4 & 4a - Frosty Fun - Approx. height 70cm · Single Phase First Prize £25
Class will be split if sufficient entries
Class 5 – Rudolf Race (Speed Class + Joker) 75cm £50 1st Prize (Subject to a minimum of 15 entries)
Class 6 & 6a Holly and Ivy – Approx. height 80cm · Single Phase: First Prize £25 Class will be split if sufficient entries (Subject to a minimum of 10 entries)
Class 7 & 7a– Brandy Pudding Stakes – Approx. height 90cm · Single Phase: £30 1st Prize Class will be split if sufficient entries (Subject to a minimum of 15 entries)
Class 8 & 8a – Christmas Cracker – Approx. height 100cm · Single Phase: £40 to the winner Class will be split if sufficient entries (Subject to a minimum of 15 entries)
Class 9 – Chase me ‘Santa’ (Charlie) First Prize only of £50 Starting height 75cm
Rosettes up to 6th place Dependant on Entries and unless otherwise stated classes will be split and Monies may be withheld if insufficient entries or substituted for prizes in kind.
1-4 withheld, 5-7 first prize only, 8 plus 1st, 2nd, 3rd
Prize money if sufficient entries and unless otherwise stated 1st - £20, 2nd - £15, 3rd- £10
Rules and Information:
- HARD HATS to current standard MUST be worn by anyone mounted on a horse/pony.
- Hair must be secured above the collar.
- Please clean up droppings from the car park (there are bins around the parking area).
- Do not leave horses tied outside of trailer/lorries.
- Please do not litter but take your rubbish home.
- Horse/Ponies only allowed to enter 3 Classes plus Clear round & Class 3
- ALL horses/ponies must be 4 years or older to jump.
- Jumping classes to be held under BRC rules
- THE JUDGES/COMMITTEE DECISIONS ARE FINAL
The Committee will not be held responsible for damage caused to any persons/property while on the show ground. We do have an official photographer at our competitions. If you do not wish to have your photos published then please inform the riding club secretary at the competition, many thanks NLRC.
