Pillar Pleasure Ride Instructions on arrival 1st May 2023
When you arrive, please park where instructed.
Register your arrival with the secretaries and collect your number from the Gazebo just near the Pillar.
Once on site - You can start your ride any time between 10am and 12:15pm
ALL riders must display their numbers and give to the starter.
On finishing, please give your number to the finisher so we know all have arrived back safely.
Please respect all other riders their maybe children, nervous riders, and young horses.
If passing other riders, please do so at walk and make your intentions known.
On your return there will be refreshments available to purchase from

Pelhams Pillar will also be open for admission of £1 so please make sure you have change to take in the superb views of the county from the top.

The Plaque above door commemorates Charles Anderson Pelham, Lord Marborough who planted 12,532,700 trees in Cabourne High Wood between 1787 and 1828.
The tower rises 128 feet with 8 slit lights in both the north-east and south-east sides, and 9 in north-west and south-west sides. The steps are steep so be warned.

To avoid congestion we are having timed blocks for arrivals please stick to the time slot.
You can still start the ride anytime between 10am and 12:15 once on site.
This is a rare opportunity to ride through some of the most magnificent private woodlands in our area. Pillar Woods is an area of outstanding beauty and home to many wild animals, including deer.
Starting any time between 10:00 and 12:15 from Pelham’s Pillar, near Caistor, Lincolnshire. LN7 6RP. There are two circular routes of 5 or 12 miles The route is well marked with white arrows on the ground at regular intervals. Stewards will be posted at various points for road crossings etc. Hard hats with chin-straps must be worn by anyone mounted on a horse or pony and all children under 13 years of age must be accompanied by an adult. No motor vehicles may enter any of the off-road sections.

On Arrival
Park where you are asked to, as Lorries and trailers may not necessarily be in the same place.
Report to the Secretary tent to collect your number(s) , no one will be allowed to start without a number
Start of the Ride
Make sure the Starter has your number.
Be considerate to others and when passing other Horse and Riders please slow down to a walk as they may be novice riders or on young horses.
It is important that when you have finished, please tell the finisher your number so we know who is on the course and we can ensure that everyone has returned safely.
If you have hacked to the venue, please let us know if you finish early and do not return to the Pillar, we could be looking for you?
THIS RIDE IS IMPORTANT SO PLEASE ENSURE YOU TAKE ALL OF YOUR RUBBISH HOME AND LEAVE THE SITE AS YOU FOUND IT.
Location
Pelham’s Pillar is just off the A1173. Turn off the A46 at Caistor onto the A1173 and after approximately half a mile carry straight on instead of turning right and you will see the Pillar (it is quite tall!) on your right.
SORRY NO DOGS (They are allowed in the parking area but not on the course)
NO MOUNTAIN BIKES on the course.
Refreshments will be available on your return.
There will be a photographer there on the day.
