2009/2010
A new year and what a year 2009 was! We have settled in very nicely to our site at Aylesby by kind permission of Mr. John Spilman and the ground has ridden very well for all our competitions. We think we have now settled on the layout which gives us a good working arrangement for all disciplines as well as spectators.
We had a fantastic year for Team and individuals representing us at qualifiers and championships. Also at national competitions at The Lincolnshire Show and the Royal Horse Show Windsor. The North Lincs are gaining a reputation of being the club to beat, well done and keep up the good work! It is a super feeling watching our members do well at competitions. Well done also to those who have achieved their own milestones, whether it is winning their first rosette, just getting in to an arena, or even taking those first steps of staying on board as your horses four feet leave the ground over that first fence!
We have started our 2010 year well. In the Novice Indoor show jumping qualifiers held at the LRAC with our Junior and Senior Teams qualifying for the championships.
If you want to be part of a team do not be afraid to just contact Caroline West and get your name down, we do not have a selection process they are open to all with classes from Novice upwards. We have a super team co-coordinator in Caroline and she will do all she can to help with any enquiries you have? Check the website regularly as we are sometimes looking to make up teams, you could just be that person. Our team members have a lot of fun and they will all tell you they are not to be missed.
We have tried to give all our members something to do for the coming year not just the competitive ones. So please support us it takes a lot of organizing to get dates, judges helpers but if we have your support and the entries it makes it all worth while.
Along with the regular Dressage, Combined Training and Open show jumping days we have also scheduled in a Teams of 3 Show jumping day in September which we hope will prove popular.
Don’t forget our extremely popular Pillar Rides in the spring and autumn by kind permission of Lord Yarborough. We are getting riders from far a field who realize how lucky we are to be able to hold this event. 2009 saw us have a record number of people participating on each of the rides.
As most people seem to have their own instructors now, we are going to revamp our instruction clinics a little, details of these will follow, and these will be either held indoors during the darker months or outdoors during the summer. This will include jumping clinics so even If you are a novice then don’t despair these are also for you, your session will be geared to your own and your horse’s ability.
Last year we had a Riding Club ball which was a very successful evening of food and entertainment. This year we are hoping to do something again, possibly a Barn Dance, BBQ so watch out for details of this.
If you would like to get involved in a non riding capacity contact me or just turn up on the day and make yourself known. Good help is always appreciated as we could not run our events without the generous help of our volunteers. We always need stewards, arena party and dressage writers, not just for our local show’s but also as part of the British Riding Clubs we are asked to provide helpers at Area Qualifiers so why not come and join us? We look forward to seeing you!
